Zaranna

Breed: Arabian

Age: 30

Gender: Mare

Zaranna came to rescue with her lifelong friend Renee (Renee passed away in September 2014). Their owner had them for their entire life, but was suffering from dementia and headed to hospice. We were able to arrange to be the foster home for her horses and donkey which provided a great deal of peace and comfort to her family during a very difficult time. Zaranna is our in our Sanctuary program. Though Zaranna was emaciated on arrival to rescue as a result of her owner’s illness she has fully rehabbed through care from her foster mom, and is now being loved and ridden by the kids in her foster home.  She is an excellent confidence builder.

Zaranna will live the rest of her life at our Pegram foster farm. Zaranna is in full retirement, so will not be adopted out.  Her forever foster family will shower her with love and kisses so she will know she is always valued.

We would like to offer our special thanks to Kathy Niess for her donation of a dental float for Zaranna.

Zaranna is having her first Christmas with Safe Harbor, but remembers Christmas well as her former mom who passed away this year loved her deeply. She says, “Hi! My name is Zaranna, and I am a 30 year old Arabian sanctuary horse at Safe Harbor. I’ve been with Safe Harbor since February. My former mom had Alzheimers. When she was well she took the best care of me that anyone ever could, but things changed once she got sick, and I ended up losing a LOT of weight. When I came to rescue I was emaciated, but I got food (3 servings every day!), dental care, vet care, blankets, and lots of love. I really have all of the essentials, but old ladies need to have fun, too. This Christmas, my wish list is all about having fun since life has gotten so good again. I want braided hair and sparkly hooves, the three little girls in my foster home can’t wait to have beauty salon days with me to remind me of just how special I am to them. You can see my Christmas Wish List by clicking here, or clicking the picture of the ornament above! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
