Moon Pie

Age: 17

Breed: Dutch Warmblood

Gender: Mare

RC Cola and Moon Pie came to Safe Harbor from abandonment.  They were locked inside of a barn, standing in almost 2 feet of manure, and their “owner” moved out of state and left them there.

These sweet horses were so glad for their rescue!

Moon Pie competed amateur hunt seat in his earlier years, and was also used as a brood mare.  She is young enough and sound, that she could easily return to competition, or could potentially work as a schooling lesson horse.  She will also be a phenomenal trail horse.  She is very loving, and adores human attention and affection.   Moon Pie met with the dentist on July 25th, has been brought up to date on shots, and has a current negative coggins.

We do have some special adoption requirements for RC and Moon Pie.  We are requiring a minimum of 3 acres of pasture per horse for them–so  if a home chooses to adopt both RC and Moon, their adoptive home will need to have at least 6 acres in pasture with no other horses or livestock animals, or an increased amount of acreage to be appropriate if there are other horses or livestock animals at the property.  Though they are well behaved in stall, full stall board will not be ok, due to the emotional damage these horses have suffered after being locked in stall.  Fencing must be a minimum of 48″ high, and cannot be barbed wire.  Board fence is preferred, but electric will be considered.  The combined adoption fee for both RC and Moon Pie is $1,000 for both horses together, or $750 for Moon Pie and $300 for RC Seperately.
