Luna is SPECIAL NEEDS and is seeking a forever foster or adoption home.  To learn more about forever fostering, read our blog post on the subject!

Luna came to Safe Harbor from the home of Jimmy C. Newman; an Opry Legend famous for his Cajun music.  When Mr. Newman passed away, Safe Harbor was asked to take on the care of his beloved horses.  Luna was deemed legally blind on her arrival to Safe Harbor.  She has over 90% sight loss in each eye.  She appears to respond somewhat to light changes, but has no measurable vision response.

That aside, Luna is calm, sweet and good natured.  She is broke to ride, so with a strong trust relationship with her caretaker, it is not completely out of the question that she could ever be ridden again.  Trust and time will be the keys to determining what her potential is in that regard.  For now, we are simply seeking a home where Luna can be loved and adored.  The ideal home for her will have a smaller, level pasture with board fence.  Barbed wire or electric are out of the question for her.  In a perfect situation, she would have a companion horse or other animal that could wear a bell to help her find them and navigate.

Should you be interested in fostering Luna as a Sanctuary Horse we can provide you with a second foster horse who will be a lifelong companion for Luna.  Luna’s adoption fee is waived completely.  We are simply seeking the right home that fits her needs.  She will be an absolutely joy to whomever brings her to their home.  Everyone who has met this lovely girl has instantly been in love with her.
