Age: 24

Breed: Mustang

Height: 14.2hh

Champ came to Safe Harbor via a neglect seizure from the Blount County SPCA–East Tennessee’s only dedicated animal cruelty investigation taskforce.  They restored Champ to health, but as they are a task force and not a placement organization they asked us to take Champ in to foster and find a family for.

Champ is sweet and gentle.  He does have a BLM Freeze Brand from his roundup, and we will be happy to help his adoptive family learn how to read his brand to learn more about his history.  Champ is a 1996 Gelding, who has lived a hard life and seems older than his actual age.  He is a compact Mustang, 14.2hh

Champ leads, loads and ties.  Champ is good for the farrier.  He recently spent a year with the Papillion Center as an EAGALA Therapy horse, helping children from hard places as an equine therapist.  Champ is arthritic, and our ideal placement for him will be in a companion home where he can keep another equine company and not be ridden.  We do need to stress that at this point in Champ’s life he is non-rideable, and is in need of a pasture/companion home only. He enjoys a quiet life, and would also be happy as an only horse if someone wanted a sweet gentleman to pet and groom.  He is friendly, yet cautious, and takes time to get to know a person to be able to fully trust.

His adoption fee is waived to the right home.  To apply to adopt Champ, please CLICK HERE.
