Breed: Quarterhorse
Size: 14.2HHAge: 24 YearsIf you have a young child who is ready for the first horse there are a few things you may want–short, stocky, safe, and slow come to mind–the 4 S’s that build a great start for a young rider.  Celie has all of these! She’s a former lesson pony who was abandoned at a boarding facility for 2 years.  Celie is actively under saddle again so she will be ready for your young rider.  She’s the been there/done that pony.  She’s toted young ones for years and years, and she is a stout pony who is fine to keep on truckin’.There are a few things about Celie, you are sure to notice.  She has a hoof that was clearly caught in a fence years ago, and a spot of proud flesh above it.  She has an extra long back that makes her seem shorter than her true size–but what she lacks in being the most beautiful horse on the outside she more than makes up with her beautiful self on the inside.  She one handed neck reins.  She makes instant friends in the herd with no drama.  She is not mare-ish or hormonal.  She is babysits.  She will go and go.  She’s a diamond in the rough for sure, and will be that once in a lifetime horse that you are honored to have known.Celie’s adoption fee is an affordable $300 and she is current on shots/coggins.We feel an ideal rider for Celie will be a child due to Celie’s smaller stature, but she has carried adult riders up to 160 pounds while in the rescue with no issues.Apply to adopt by CLICKING HERE!

About Her Name: Celie is the protagonist and narrator of The Color Purple by Alice Walker. Celie is a poor, uneducated black woman with a sad personal history. She survives a stepfather who abuses her and steals her babies and also survives an abusive husband. As an adult, Celie befriends and finds intimacy with a blues singer, Shug Avery, who gradually helps Celie find her voice.
