Five Cent

Five Cent

Are you looking for a big guy who is stout and strong?  Five Cent may be the one for you.  He is a lovely grey, 18 years old, and a wide built, QH.  We put a ride on Five Cent knowing he had been sitting in the field for 3-4 years without being worked, and he impressed us with his level head and knowledge, earning a beginner approved label from his evaluator.  He does have more go than whoa, so a timid beginner won’t be a perfect match.  That said, he neck reins, understands leg and seat, and is very responsive all around. He is gentle on the ground, stands for the farrier, and is shod.  He loads easily, ties and stalls. Five Cent is blind in one eye, but has been for years, and it is not a behavioral or safety issue with him.  He’s fully adapted to being sighted on one side only. This gorgeous boy has a $300 adoption fee, and is ready for adoption...

Henry Gram

Henry Gram

HENRY GRAM (2D968, G) HENRY CLAY – LEXIE GRAM – SWAT TEAM   GENERAL INFORMATION Foaling Date: 02/25/2006 Sex: Gelding Foaling Place: SALEM, IL Color: Bay Tattoo: Freezebrand: 2D968 Death Date: Embryo Transfer: Markings: STAR; STRIP CONNECTING SNIP; LEFT FRONT CORONET; LEFT HIND PASTERN WHITE. Parent Verified: Yes Eligibility: US – Pace Henry Gram; born Feb 25, 2006 is an Off Track Standardbred with over $200K in lifetime earnings.  He was actively racing until late 2017.  Henry had a goat buddy when he was on track, and was well-loved by all who worked with him.  He is broke to ride and drive. On the ground – Henry is somewhat pushy, and needs a strong and confident owner to take a leadership position with him.  We recommend an experienced owner who knows how to set boundaries. Under saddle – Henry is soft and calm.  He is safe for a beginner rider.  He has a nice walk and a gait that is super easy to sit.  He’d fit in perfectly in a group of walking horses for trail riding, and would really enjoy that as a future path. Driving – Henry currently looks at being hitched as being at the races.  He needs time with ground driving to calm his brain down, and to learn to slow his speed to normal levels for pleasure driving.  Driving is old hat to him, but going slow with a cart is not something that has been asked of him much in life yet. If you are looking for a gorgeous, sound, younger standardbred ready for trail riding now, then Henry Gram is a great fit for you!  If you want a trained to drive horse that can be retrained for pleasure driving then Henry is great option as a project.  An owner with solid horse experience will be a must for Henry, but he will be one of the horses in your pasture that you can let a beginner friend safely ride.  His adoption fee is $800.  ...

Snow Flow

Snow Flow

Breed: TWH Age: 12 (approx) Color: Champagne Snow Flow is a well built TWH, who gaits beautifully.  We suspect she has former training, and someone who knows gaited horses well could go far with her.  She will park out when asked to, and she longes well, and behaves exceptionally well on lead.  She has trust issues in the open field, and does not do great with catch and release yet.  We have not progressed with Snow to a point where she is back under saddle in rescue, but we suspect she is broke to ride.  She is very responsive to stimulus and requires desensitization and some work to overcome fear before she will be truly ready to be safe for riding.  Snow is available to an experienced home who can continue working with her to help her progress through her needs.  Her adoption fee is $300. She leads, stands for the farrier, stands for grooming, and is up to date on shots/coggins. Snow Flow is currently completing 30 days of full training with Perry...

Eve

Eve

Breed: Straight Line Egyptian Al Khampsa Arabian (out of Shams Al Shalimar) Non Registered Age: Approx 10 Height: 13.3hh Eve (pronounced Evie), is a beautiful mover who is in need a quality experienced home. Eve likely spent the beginning of her life as a brood mare with limited handling.  She is registered, but initially came into rescue through a cruelty/neglect case and registration is not able to be transferred.  She is a petite and reactive girl.  She is very very intelligent, sensitive to smells, and head shy.   She is fine in a mixed herd, and will come routinely for food, but is not eager to be caught in an open field.  Handling her in stall is easy.  Eve does better in a nylon halter than a rope halter as she is particularly sensitive around her head.  She is eligible to be adopted by an experienced home only, willing to continue her training.  Her adoption fee is $300. Eve is T.I.P. Program...

Five Cent

Five Cent

Age: 18 Breed: Quarter Horse Height: 14.1 (approx) Rider level: In intake; evaluation TBA. Five Cent aka Nickel is an 18 year old Grey quarter horse gelding.  He came to us out of a barbed wire field from an owner who had entered hospice.  He is blind in one eye, but it appears that it is a very old injury and needs no special treatment at this time.  He is not spooky on his blind side, and responds normally on both sides to contact.  He is very sweet, HIGHLY food motivated, and loves being handled and groomed.  He picks up his feet nicely, will stand for the farrier, leads and loads.  Five Cent is still new to the rescue, and has not yet had his formal training evaluation.  He is accepting applications for interested adopters who may want to be waitlisted for this handsome...

Salt-N-Pepa

Salt-N-Pepa

IN REHAB – PLEASE CONSIDER A SPONSORSHIP Salt-N-Pepa, or Pepa as we call her in foster is an approximately 20 year old leopard appaloosa mare that came to us with a digestive issue that is still in a diagnostic phase.  Pepa has chronic loose stools, and issues digesting her food properly.  We have run fecals, are treating proactively for ulcers, and have a rectal exam pending (her veterinarian is currently on maternity leave, so we have a couple week delay before we can continue with further diagnostics).  We believe her issues are very fixable and are not related to any form of cancer or anything more insidious. Pepa is an absolute darling on the ground.  Exceptional manners, gentle, craves attention, stands ground tied for grooming or blanketing, and has no issues with the farrier.  She is not currently food motivated, but we suspect that is due to her perpetually upset tummy, and once that is under control she should be perkier about food. Pepa is not yet cleared for adoption, but is seeking sponsors and accepting applications for adoption for when she is healthy and...
