HCFG: Horsemanship and Equitation
Join training director Jessica Lyons of Lyons Riding for Horse Camp for Grownups Session 2, Horsemanship and Equitation. Bring your own horse or use one of ours for a 6 hour clinic on horsemanship and equitation.
Guest instructor, Elizabeth Howe, will also be teaching carriage driving. Elizabeth has held her commercial carriage license for almost a decade and takes a best practices approach to carriage work that always puts the humane and proper treatment of the horse first.
Topics covered include:
- Proper use of a rope halter, various types of bridle and harness
- Approaching a fearful horse safely
- Longeing, Ground Work and Leadership
- Grooming Techniques and Hoof Handling
- Tack safety and tacking up correctly
- Saddle Fit
- Riding and Equitation for Beginners to Experienced Riders
- Carriage Driving
This clinic is 100% hands on with horses and suitable for riders of all levels, with a focus on beginner to intermediate riders. We welcome you (and encourage you) to bring your horse if you have one, but will have Safe Harbor current horses and alumni available for this great clinic! Proof of coggins will be requested for incoming horses.
You do NOT have to have attended session 1 of horse camp for grownups to attend session 2. Every session stands on its own!
Attendance is very limited, so please reserve your spot today. PLEASE purchase an attendance ticket and the corresponding ticket for horse use so we know how many people are bringing a horse versus using one of ours.
